How to set up Halo to work in Access Point mode

Este artigo se aplica:

Access Point mode aims to extend the existing wired network and expand the wireless coverage for a home network. At this time, the Halo system will not create its own subnet but purely forward data between the root router and the clients. This article will guide you in setting up AP mode with Halo.

Note:

1. Always keep the Halo’s firmware up-to-date to use AP mode. If you’re not sure, please open the Mercusys app and tap More-> Update Halo for a check.

2. Please make sure you have installed the latest Mercusys app to use AP mode.

3. In AP mode, the Halo system will not act as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the clients. Please make sure you have enabled the DHCP server function on the root router.

4. In AP mode, since all the clients are managed by the root router, some advanced features will not be available in the Mercusys app, including Parental Controls, Port Forwarding, Address Reservation, etc.

5. Ethernet Backhaul is also working in AP mode.

Here, we take Halo H80X as an example.

  1. Connect your phone to Halo Wi-Fi and launch the Mercusys app.
  2. Tap More > Advanced > Operation Mode.

For a brand new halo router, follow the APP installation instructions to set up the halo first. Then you will be able to see More option on the Mercusys app.

A picture displays the router's settings and more settings, and the advanced option is highlighted.

3. Choose Access Point, and then the app will indicate to reboot the Halo system; tap OK, and the Halo will reboot.

Display switching mode will reboot the router, cancel button, and ok button in the middle.

4. Wait about 2 minutes until the LED light recovers to solid green, then the Halo system will work in AP mode.
